The Slime Rancher formula is so perfect that they really didn’t have to change much about it. Remember that this is still set in the same first world, actually on a different island. While similar to the first game, however, it adds way more to the core concept. The graphics are, of course, incredible, and Monomi Park has done an amazing job creating environments that (in my opinion,) look hundreds of times better than the ones in the first game. Speaking of the environment, they just have a very satisfying flow, taking the locked doors from the original and replacing them with gordos that block the doors.

Then there’s the matter of gameplay elements that have been taken from the original but tweaked for the better. Treasure chests no longer require these silly upgrades to be unlocked at higher levels, and instead, can all be unlocked right from the start. This feels especially good if you’re a returning player, in which case you might remember the confusion and look for guides on how to get higher-tier treasures.

I’m also going to lean more toward the communications station in this game as opposed to the trading station in the first game. Trading and all was nice, but not very profitable, especially once you started learning about the largos and the value you got from farming their fields. They’ve removed the commercials here, and you now get lessons from your friends, deep messages, and new maps/gifts.
