Why are you here, why are there bosses, and what has this land been like in the past? Well, you weren’t told too well, and it’s up to you to decorate your own narrative or just take on the wonder of not knowing. Everything is done visually and very well done. Due to the environment, you are in, you will have to manage your heat and hunger by hunting, making fires, and improving/making better clothing.
In a day and age when survival games are a penny, managing a dozen and the counter becomes annoying, Praey for the Gods doesn’t force your throat and requires the player to deal with these mechanics constantly, but just to remind you that the environment is careless and kills you slowly. I like this approach because I’ve played enough survival titles to know that dealing with super oppressive survival mechanics isn’t fun. The bosses themselves are amazing in appearance and play, with rough gray fur, skulls with hollow-eyed faces, they die and they seem to hate you because you have a life and they want you to join their ranks. I like their look on the background where you fight them, every screenshot you take will probably look like a damn cool Black Metal album.
While every boss is a jigsaw puzzle you have to figure out how to take it down, but there are also jigsaw puzzles in the environment that give you rewards to help you stay alive. Exploring at random, you may find a cave with switches that will give you a new piece of clothing or torches on a mountain top that, once lit, will give you an Urn that will help you increase your endurance. Exploring is not only to admire the sights (which is fun!), But there are also benefits to doing so.
