It’s the first two Lego Star Wars games combined into one (single hub, combined roster of characters and unlockables) with all the improvements from the second game applied back to the first so it’s all one cohesive experience. Also, some cut content has been restored and some of the less enjoyable levels from the first game have been remade in the style of the second, with the originals unlockable as bonus content. It’s basically a director’s cut of two stellar (literally) games.
It’s got a neat difficulty formula wherein unskilled players (read: small children) can still beat the game, but you’ll make money faster if you’re good, as player deaths just cost some of the cash you’ve picked up. If the content is gated behind a challenge, then it’s gonna be the sort of challenge you can beat with observation, experimentation, and repetition, rather than precise timing. It manages to be accessible without being tedious. And if it is too difficult for your child, every mission is designed around a two-player, drop-in, tag team co-op with the second player replacing the AI partner. If you’re tired after work and just want to play something that engages you without stressing you, this is a good choice.
The Complete Saga follows the story of The Phantom Menace all the way to Return of the Jedi. However, there’s a key feature for Traveller’s Tale games released at this time. There is no voice acting! Later on, they decided to start hiring voice actors which added a different level of polish to their LEGO movie games, but I personally prefer the method of storytelling in these older LEGO games.
