This is a great open-world game where the citizens of Harran are infected with the rabies virus. Your task is to locate remedy research on behalf of the Global Relief Effort. You join a band of garrisoned survivors in Harran and assume the role of one of their “runners” as a guide as you attempt to infiltrate and locate a wanted man and vital data. The game’s large open-world environments are amazing, set in the Harran slums and Old Town, both locations offering a different style of parkour.

Your movement will be a mixture of running, jumping, and using a claw, or sliding cables. Oh, and the strange swimming! Parkour is fluid, easy, and not overly fanciful. The campaign itself is quite long and enjoyable, and there are a host of optional side missions and challenges to complete.

The game is divided into two scenarios: day and night. During the day, the infected and the “virals” roam the streets aimlessly, but they are not much of a danger as long as you stay on rooftops and higher areas. However, at night everything becomes much more sinister! Not only do the infected come out in greater numbers, but a darker and almost indestructible race of the infected go on the hunt. They are stronger than you, faster than you, and they would love to have dinner with you. There is no recourse but to stay home and sleep until dawn or to dare to go out and use stealth and speed to the best of your ability. It’s worth it as you will get double the experience points, but it may not last long.

For more experienced players, a hard mode has been added. Good luck with that! For the rest of us, I would say the difficulty is at the average level when playing “normal”. There are a few fights ahead of you and you’ll be counting on parkour from the start, but nothing seems off-limits. There will be enemies that at first will be too difficult to face head-on, but nothing is out of reach. The only element of the game that I didn’t like in terms of difficulty was the small number of speed challenges, but these are completely optional and it doesn’t hurt any player who would rather not complete them.

The most admirable thing about this game is that the developer four years later is backing the game with new DLC and events. Like CDPR, Techland has shown that there are developers who really care about their fans and want to give them a complete gaming experience. For me, it is important that a game feels that the developer admires their own products and supports them for long periods of time. Game-wise, I feel like it has one of the best parkour systems of any first-person game I’ve ever played. I can run for hours without it being boring. It gets intense at night and you feel like it’s worth getting out of the safe areas right now, as the reward is extra XP that you can use in the skill tree to unlock fun new skills.

The zombies are well done and while some can get boring, I think they are important in making the game more difficult. One tip is to play on the highest difficulty to get the best experience. Also, co-op is fun and if you have people you can play with, the experience is even better. The story is intriguing and the side missions are fun, although some are a bit silly. Dubbing is not a problem for me, but some NPCs could have been “dubbed” a little better. Also, another well-made part of the game is weapons and crafting. You can do so many different things with weapons and it never gets boring. For me, this game is a masterpiece and you shouldn’t hesitate to get it if you haven’t already. The music/soundtrack is exciting, especially at night.
