I’d like to highlight a couple of things that I think would help the game a lot. First, there is a lack of information about the cars in the game. It didn’t occur to me at first because before buying ACC I had watched videos and read about things, as well as spending many weekends this year enjoying real-world GT racing. However, I do not know the BHP of any of these cars or if they are naturally aspirated or turbocharged, or even the location of the engine. Likewise, the gear, top speed, and what the engine maps do are all mysteries until you find an outside source via a video guide or forum post, even then you can’t find all the technicalities. This is somewhat puzzling for a racing game. Maybe manufacturers don’t like spilling the beans when it comes to their car’s capabilities, that’s one thing, but this knowledge is already in the game, they just aren’t telling you.
I only found out that the Audi R8 GT4 had seven gears by mistake and that its Ginetta counterpart maxed out at 149 mph after I drove it up Mount Panorama, which has very long straights compared to some circuits. What makes a Porsche 911 Cup Car different from a 991 GT3 car? How is 2018 991 GT3 different from 2019? They all look basically the same. It’s completely reasonable that someone doesn’t know how they differ, but completely unreasonable that the game doesn’t give you a way to find out before driving it. The clues have brief blots on their history, a corner count, a total length of the turn, and a map showing their path along the ground. If these basics are there for the tracks, they should be there for the cars as well.

This game has been compared to iRacing a lot, but I think it’s not a fair comparison because comparing apples to oranges is more so. Currently, ACC focuses exclusively on GT3 racing and emulates this, while iRacing is suitable for many types of championships. Multiplayer is awesome in this game, the races themselves are fun, and there are a lot of open lobbies to join during the day and night. What I’d like to see in terms of adding multiplayer is some sort of amateur/pro-am / pro-competition type servers. This would mean that amateur competition servers still have a required driver qualification standard to join, but it would be a step to get your feet wet in competitive racing. Another downside I find with this game is that the frequency of these competitive server races is that they are not frequent enough.

Moving on from the multiplayer aspect, the physics and tire patterns are very neat and extremely realistic, especially when the brakes are cold or the tires can be more grippy during the lap. Related to this is the evolution of the track, where you will be able to take different lines during a race as the track becomes more rubbery. The detail of the laser-scanned tracks and the scenery in combination with the graphics make this game a truly immersive experience and make you want to cut those tenths off your lap time and improve yourself. A good selection of cars and the sound is probably the closest thing to the sound of a real GT3 car. If you don’t believe me, compare the sounds of a car in the game with those in real life.
