The world as the inhabitants of the Air – Memories of Old know it is made up only of individual islands floating high in the clouds. This mystical environment is now threatened again with falling into darkness. At least that’s what the young protagonist Auk sees in an ominous vision when she lights a candle while visiting an altar on a pilgrimage. She then receives a rare gift: the light of Karah, an ancient lantern that allows her to see memories of the old world.
Confused but brave, Auk decides to continue her pilgrimage to the three temples of the broken world to learn from the memories of her ancestors and to save her homeland from destruction. Fortunately, the Auk is a shape-shifter and can be transformed into a human-sized bird at any time and can fly back and forth between islands. The flight is the absolute highlight of the Air and creates an incredibly strong sense of freedom.
